The things kids say... (posted especially for Jen Kelly)

So I was away last weekend and Leo shared that he had a moment of frustration in dealing with one of the girls. In the midst of it Cole turned to him and said "sucks to be you!" Thankfully Leo was able to laugh about it and it broke the tension!

When I came home and finally got to hug Cole-he squeezed me tight and said "I miss you SO much"

After sharing about the events of the weekend with the family, I asked Drew what he learned over the Blitz weekend. He was hard pressed to express anything that was greatly impacting. McKenna piped up and said "I know-don't lose your lip balm or your mom will be flipping mad!" I'm thinking the use of the word flipping has to stop in our household!

Last night as we were settling down for storey time and devotions. Cole jumped up and said "I ha' to go potty" I gave him a mom look and he responded "I'n serious!"

I love these kids!

I got out of the shower this morning to a sentiment written in the steam on the mirror ......"i [heart] u".

written by my son! I pray he never completely outgrows the affection that he so willingly shows now.

My kids have learned 2 new words!

So we were reading the book Beazus and Ramona. The author describes Aunt Beatrice as " pretty and gay".

McKenna says "did you say gay?" (note that we have read a number of books over the past year that used that word appropriatly meaning "happy")

I responded, "Yes, it means happy. why?"

McKenna slowly says, "well I heard that it means something else.I heard that it means when a boy marries a boy."

At which point Drew joins the conversation with "yeah...what's the girl one?....." I am praying he doesn't remember "....oh yeah...lesbian!"

I our following discussion I learn that the boy next door has informed my children of these definitions, for no apparent reason. I proceeded with the "if someone tells you something you didn't know before or I haven't told you, please come and discuss it with Daddy or I becuase we want to make sure that you have the correct information. And then "this is not God's plan for marriage and since it gose against God it  is sin like, cheating, stealing, lying and every other sin."

AGHHHHHHHHHH!!! So NOT happy about this. I HATE being forced into discussions that neither of us are ready for. McKenna is too little to have to discern this stuff and Brae was there too, which makes the whole thing even worse!

PLUS, I think the parents won't think there is any big deal about this so I'm not even sure that I should approach them. Am I crazy!?!?

Coming home is never as exciting as going to camp.

Being home SUCKS!!! I have to remember that there is no dining hall where food magically is prepared and served-now I have to THINK about planning, buying, cooking and serving food! Oh yeah and THINKING isn't enough I have to DO it!!!! AUGH!!!!!!!

AND I have to get up and drive to work ON TIME!!!

Work has been insanely busy! Indescribable really. Friday could not come soon enough! and Monday will arrive all too quickly!

I'm thinking another year of maternity leave sounds pretty nice right about now..........now if only Leo would agree....
